Ever heard your friends talking about a Saturday morning parkun? While coffee and the paper are a standard Saturday for many, more and more people are choosing a 5k with their coffee to kick start their weekend.
With more than 440 locations in Australia, it’s time to find out more about the global phenomenon that can help take your wellbeing journey to the next level.
What is parkrun?
Parkrun has been a Saturday staple in Australia since 2011. Launching its first Australian location in April 2011 on the Gold Coast, parkrun has spread throughout the country and has helped energise communities to get active.
The free, weekly community event can be found in almost every corner of the western world and follows the same structure. Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces, with some locations offering a Sunday morning junior run of 2k for children aged four to 14.
